Men, now more than ever, are becoming more aware and accepting of the necessity of a proper grooming routine. Gone are the days when it was seen as “un-manly” to buy and use products made specifically for guys – most men realize that it’s very important. You take good care of your body-why not take care of your face? Nowadays, guys go back and forth between having a beard or stubble and being clean-shaven. Regardless of your current look, your facial skin needs regular attention! It can be daunting to navigate the basics of skincare and shaving do’s and don’ts but, as a facial hair expert and author, I have explored different techniques, heard every myth about hair growth and removal and seen all the trends. The most important components to keeping your skin looking its best through all ages and seasons, is a grooming regimen that includes great products and technique. I like to break down men’s grooming in three primary steps: cleanse, shave and finish:
Start with the “software”, a.k.a. your grooming products. The first step of the skincare process should always be cleansing! According to a study from Dove Men+Care, almost half of U.S men never use face wash. Your body bar soap is not a sufficient substitute. The skin are your face needs to treated with a gentle, yet effective cleanser that mildly cleans and protects, like the Dove Men+Care Hydrate+ Face Wash.
Men are always looking for ways to improve their shaving technique to get the closest shave and combat common concerns like irritation and razor burn. (Even if you have a beard, sideburns or stache, you still need to keep your facial hair margins clean and tidy.) The products you use to prep your skin are crucial to achieve your best shave. First, apply a soothing shave product like Dove Men+Care Hydrate+ Shave Gel. The rich, creamy lather provides lubrication for the closest shave and is gentle enough for everyday use. For the least irritating shave, be sure to use a light touch, gliding the blade with the grain (never against) following the direction your hair grows, and try to make fewer passes –if you need to go back over a spot, make sure you always apply more shaving gel. About the “hardware”: Remember to replace your razor every five to seven uses and, to prevent dullness, towel dry excess moisture from the blade after each use. A common misconception is the more blades on your razor, the better. In fact, razors with fewer blades cause less irritation and are much easier on your wallet!
The last step, moisturizing with a face lotion, is imperative regardless of your skin type. As men age, they are increasingly prone to dry, flaky skin. All the sweating at the gym, frequent shaving and exposure to the elements, is wear-and-tear on your face. A non-greasy, fast-absorbing face lotion, such as Dove Men+Care’s Hydrate+ Face Lotion is perfect for everyday care. This dermatologist tested product also contains Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to help prevent sun damage.

For any human body, skin is the largest organ. It is also the most visible organ in the body and fortunately or unfortunately it can easily convey a lot of things about you. It is therefore important to take good care of it at all times and these 6 essential skin care tips for men will go a long way in enlightening you on how you can have a healthy skin and an appealing look.
Watch your nutrition
Your plate plays a major role in determining your skin health. Before you think about your beauty creams and the likes, it will be important to take care of your diet first. There are many foods that will mess the health of your skin while others will go a long way in boosting the vitality of your skin. You should eat foods rich in vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Biotin is especially essential if you want to replenish your skin and this type B vitamin also helps replenish nails and your hair. Some of the foods you should eat include vegetables, legumes, olive oils, fruits especially apples, and berries. Avoid fatty foods, daily products and too sugary stuff.
Cleansers form part of the essential skin care tips for men. They help your skin stay healthy and choosing the right cleanser for your skin is very important. There are many types of cleansers in the stores today and getting the right one can be a bit tricky. However, the best thing to do will be to avoid dyes and fragrances since they can be irritating to the skin. If it is your first time to use cleansers, opt for gentle and mild products. Cleaning your skin nicely will make it healthy and glowing.
Moisturizers are not only for ladies but can also give amazing results to men. Daily use of moisturizers can help in taking care of your skin. There are moisturizers for both dry and oily skins and getting the right one for you will go a long way in helping maintain a healthy skin. If you have a dry skin, it would be better to use ointments and creams as opposed to lotions since they work better. A gentle application of moisturizers after your bath will have amazing results in retaining the water soaked up by the body during the bath.
Using sunscreen when in sunny places will work wonders in protecting your skin. It also pays to use sunscreen even in places and times when you do not consider it important and this way you will give your skin the necessary protection. For example, you do not have to use sunscreen only when heading to the beach, consider using it even when walking to the mall. It is always good to shield your skin from dangerous UV-rays.
Drink lots of water
Your skin is mainly composed of water and therefore you will only do it justice to keep it supplied with what it is made of. This will help replenish it and ensure it does not dry out especially because your body loses a lot of water through sweating. Drinking enough water will help prevent against wrinkles, eliminate toxins and boost blood flow.
Exercises are not only good for your body but also for your skin as a man. Regular exercises will help open up the pores and prevent against cases of acne. As you exercise, your skin gets rid of toxins while at the same time boosting the production of collagen. This will help prevent wrinkling and enhance blood flow for a healthy skin. You can also boost the health of your skin by sleeping well and resting sufficiently. Despite the busy schedules in life, rest is important and you should not feel guilty for doing it. If you don’t have time to take care your skin you can visit in a beauty salon. Such as Coalz offers men’s beauty care, laser hair removal, facials, massage, and teeth whitening. Additionally, a change of lifestyle will do wonders. Avoid smoking, drinking alcohol and caffeine.

Driving a razor over the body is a lot different than shaving your face... and the razor you use should be different too. The light weight handle and anti-slip grip of the Body Razor gives you control even in the shower while the pivoting head maintains excellent blade contact over the body for a new kind of smoothness.
Here are a few tips from Master Barbers on shaving:
- Shave during or after the shower. The steam helps prepare the skin for shaving and helps make the body hair a little easier to cut.
- After shaving sensitive areas, use moisturizers which are soothing and calming to the skin and will help to prevent irritation.
- To enhance your body soap experience, instead of using your hands, try lathering up with a shaving brush. Shaving brushes help build a great lather and lift the body hair.
The Art of Shaving's Body Razor is available at The Art of Shaving stores and online.

I'm into my new gym shorts from a new brand called Chubbies. Ok, think old-school Olympic and retro basketball shorts from the 70's and 80's designed with modern technology that keeps the boys in place and the skin dry. Bring it on with a pair of mid-calf socks or even a pair of no-shows and the look is rockin'. These comfortable and light weight shorts are perfect for outside the gym and just hanging out too. Can't wait for the summer to wear them with a pair of flip-flops. The cut is different than most work out shorts — a little shorter— just try them for your self. I bet you'll love them too! Check out all the colors! ChubbiesShorts.com
