I was THISCLOSE to giving Roger & Gallet Lip Aide the Nobel Prize for lip balm. SO CLOSE! Until the damn thing broke. Uggh. Everyday, 7 days a week, 365 days a year I'm on the look out for a lip balm that meets my not-so-rigid criteria:
1. Not too shiny
2. Good moisturizer
3. Lasts longer than 10 minutes
Pretty simple, huh? Did I mention, above all, not too shiny? In all my years as a confessed product junkie, I've tried so many lip balms from ChapStick to La Mer and everything in between — some were good and some left me looking like I just ate a spare rib.
On a recent trip to Bigelow pharmacy, I picked up some Lip Aide by Roger & Gallet. I was able to get over the beyond-hideous packaging graphics (WTF?) and braced myself to try something by Roger & Gallet, a brand that, in the past I avoided like the plague. Mainly because the name sounded like Robert Goulet (please click to the left!) and I couldn't get past the image of him using their products. Imagine how excited I was to find a lip balm that went on smoothly, had long-lasting moisture and not greasy at all. Actually had kind of a matte finish. SCORE! And then it happened. The balm stick broke. It actually BROKE off from the holder. What an effen dud! I'm still using what's left of my Lip Aide because the balm is actually phenom, plus I shelled out $15 for it. Now if only R&G could package this product in a way that works well and looks good, there might be a Nobel Prize in the future. Until then, I'll keep on the look out.
