Pangea Organics Spruces Up Your Skincare

Pangea Organics is a Colorado-based company that makes some of the best natural organic skincare that’s out there. For a limited time, they're offering a gift set that will have you rocking healthy skin and a greener planet. 'How's that?' you might ask. Just when you think you’ve received a lovely box of organic skincare products — surprise! You’ve also been given the gift of giving back to the earth by way of a spruce tree. Inside the fibers of the Radiance Gift Set box, there’s a Spruce Tree just waiting to be planted. Very cool. The box is embedded with tree seeds. Soak the box in water, let the seeds germinate, plant it in your garden and you can actually grow a Spruce tree. How’s that for taking care of your skin while taking care of the earth?

The star products included in the new Radiance Gift Set are packed with plant-based ingredients, powerful antioxidants and key minerals, vitamins and essential oils that work to balance, nurture and nourish your skin from the inside out. They work beautifully and smell awesome. The gift set includes:

Facial Cleanser: Egyptian Calendula & Blood Orange. Left my skin very clean and refreshed.
Facial Scrub: Egyptian Geranium, Adzuki Bean & Cranberry. Just the right amount of scrubbing action.
Facial Mask: LOVE this one. Made with Japanese Matcha Tea, Acai & Goji Berry. It does everything from detoxifying, deep-cleansing and exfoliating, to toning, moisturizing, and even helps to reduce wrinkles.
Lip Balm: Italian Red Mandarin with Rose. Super rich without being shiny. It tastes like tea. This one is a MUST for any lip balm aficionado.
Eye Cream: Made with Turkish Rose & White Tea. Excellent moisturizer and left no shine at all on my eye area. It's good as a day and night cream.

The Pangea Organics Radiance Gift Set is available for pre-order exclusively online at www.pangeaorganics.com - offer expires June 15.

No Matter What Goes Down, AXE Will Fix You Up

Check out The Fixer Show, a fake talk show about questionable hook-ups and pranking friends. It's HILARIOUS, but then again, AXE's advertising is ALWAYS pretty funny.

The Smooth Back – by Shobha

Summer is about to happen — time to break out the shorts, flip-flops and t-shirts. We all know that sooner or later the t-shirt is coming off, which leads me to the timely topic of back hair.

The fact is that most guys have hair on their backs. It could be a light covering of peach fuzz (acceptable), or a few random longer ones (eeh, would be better with them off), maybe a pair of Cubby Wings — the thicker patches of hair under the shoulder blades (must come off) or the dreaded Shag Carpet National Forest (perfect if you’re into Bears, but if not, emergency hair removal is needed). I prefer the look of a trimmed chest/abs area with a smooth back and shoulders.

One of the more pleasant grooming treatments I’ve had recently was a Back Sugaring at Shobha in Soho, NYC.

Shobha is a cool hair removal salon with a super-relaxed, soothing “yoga" vibe. Shobha’s specialty is hair removal — that’s all they do — and they’re known for their extremely sanitary hair removal services — one of the reasons their celebrity and model clientele keep coming back. On my first visit, I felt instantly comfortable. Hair removal is an intimate procedure, not exactly a spa treatment where you want to be ‘showcased’ in a street level salon. Another reason Shobha rocks: three convenient and very discreet locations. The one I visited was in Soho, located on the 4th floor of 594 Broadway.

Here’s my take on Back Sugaring: The first thing I noticed about sugaring is that it is a lot less painful than waxing because the sugar adheres mostly to the hair follicle (not the skin) while wax sticks to the hair and skin, pulling some skin off during the process. After my back was sugared and completely smooth, rosewater toner was applied with cool, soothing cloths. The aroma was not grandma’s rose water but a fresh mix of rose essential oil and witch hazel — they both have soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. It’s a day after my sugaring as I write this and still no sign of redness, pain, stinging on my back.

Another service they offer is a men’s bikini waxing, kind of a Boyzilian, which gets rid of hair on the upper and inner thigh — I might try this on my next visit. With a trip to the beaches of Spain coming up in a couple of weeks, I’m all caught up on my manscaping.

Woody's Quality Grooming

Lately I’ve been rocking it old school with some high-quality retro-hip products from Woody’s Quality Grooming. If you haven’t heard of Woody’s, I would recommend checking them out. Woody’s Quality Grooming gives a nod to the old school grooming styles of the classic American male while updating them with today’s grooming technology. All of these products smell great and perform in a no-fuss kind of way — easy, clean and masculine.

A couple of my must-haves are the Meat and Potatoes Bar and the Foaming Shave Gel. Meat and Potatoes Bar is a simple solution for hair and body maintenance. This is a natural vegetable based bar with super mild and effective cleansers and conditioners — hemp seed oil, tea tree, and shea butter. It has excellent foaming action, rinses off easily and leaves my skin soft as a supermodels bottom. And for some extra charm, it’s packaged like a pound of beef — yes, the same packaging that you might see at Trader Joe’s.

The Foaming Shave Gel is another winner. It’s slick without being dangerous and has just the right amount of foam that allows you to see where you’ve shaved without looking like Santa. Clean and close. I've been getting a nick-free shave with this one.

Woody’s Quality Grooming also has a celebrity following. They've helped primp GlamMen like Eric Bana, Benjamin Bratt, Dermot Mulroney, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey Jr.

Man-e-cure

GlamMan went to an Essie Cosmetics and Havaianas Sandal event tonight at the Havaianas showroom in Soho. And what a fun night it was.

Along with meeting the FAB people at Essie and Havaianas, the highlight of my night was getting a professional Essie manicure. While I was admittedly outnumbered by a very colorful, well-manicured and female crowd, I was not about to pass up on a manicure. You all know Havaianas as the super-comfy and high-styled flip flop maker but you may not know Essie. Essie is known by most women as THE nail polish of choice at top nail salons across the country. Now they have a men’s product that is wonderful and I recommend it to any guy who takes good care of his nails. It’s a matte nail protector specially created for men called man-e-cure. One coat to clean, dry nail leaves a vey subtle, matte finish giving you the natural look and appearance of well groomed hands, a necessity. The finish is absolutely matte and incredibly clean. Man-e-cure is on my hot list. Check it out here.

And as a side note, this evening I met Essie herself and she told me that Seal wears a very dark blue nail polish on his toes. Love it!

The Eyes Have It

I’ve retired my StriVectin and replaced it with ARCONA The Eyes Have It; a 2x/week nighttime regenerating eye treatment that strengthens and rebuilds skin leaving it firmer, brighter and younger-looking. The Eyes Have It Reduces fine lines and wrinkles and increases elasticity of thinning, damaged skin with it's collagen-building pentapeptides.

ARCONA is a Los Angeles-based skin care Studio known for its high quality, luxury formulations and cosmeceutical-grade ingredients. Here's the key to their high-quality formulas: enzymes, antioxidants and amino acids, are formulated to work synergistically and then cold-processed at very low temperatures, in small batches, to keep them active and effective. It works and I like it!

5 Best Summer Fragrances

Out magazine has chosen 5 of the Best Summer Fragrances and I couldn't agree with them more. I would also round the list off to 10 by adding Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Summer Edition, Issey Miyake Summer Edition, Molecule 01, Hermes Vetiver Tonka and Bond No. 9 Hamptons. Check the full article here. Enjoy

Certainly DRI

I won’t even tell you how many white t-shirts I go through each year — way too many. The culprit of my dilemma is the Aluminum Zirconium that’s found in most antiperspirants. Aluminum Zirconium stops wetness but it also has a funny way of turning the underarms of a nice white t-shirt into a lovely yellowy shade of…blaggh…yuck. And it doesn’t discriminate. It totally effed up a gray Gucci shirt that I wore ONCE without an undershirt. In this case, the aluminum bleached out the color. Ugggh!

Anyhoodle, problem solved! Say hello to Certain Dri Antiperspirant/Deodorant.

Certain Dri is applied at bedtime giving the formula time to do its stuff over night. I’m no scientist, but whatever it does, it works. In the morning I just freshen it up with a scented deodorant stick from my collection. Lately, my scents of choice are Calvin Klein Euphoria and ck be. It’s funny, I’m not a fan of Calvin Klein fragrances, but Euphoria and ck be smell pretty darn good as underarm deodorants. And yes, the idea of putting on an antiperspirant before bedtime is a strange shift to the routine but so far, so good. For me, the shizzle works! D-R-I.
