Degree V12 Absolute Protection

Every once in a while I come across a product that kind of rocks my world. Sometimes it’s an unexpected potion that gives me a lift but usually it’s a simple and familiar every-day product that gets a “new and improved” twist. I try it, I like it, then BOOM! My world is rocked. It’s that simple, and after all, I’m just a simple man with a dream. HA! My latest rocker is Degree V12 Absolute Protection Anti-perspirant and Deodorant. I’ve always known Degree as the antiperspirant that cranks into full gear when you start to sweat. Degree V12 is designed specifically to respond to increases in adrenaline and provide superior protection when you need it most — at the gym, at the office or in the driver’s seat of a sports car. I’ve worked some intense cardio sessions while using Degree V12 and the only part of my t-shirt that remained dry was the underarm. It also has one of the nicer deodorant scents that I’ve smelled. The scent is super clean without being overpowering — it releases 1.4 million ARMOR-TECH fragrance molecules with every use to help curb arm sweat and odor. A definite winner.

Degree has joined forces with NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to launch Degree V12 in the form of an online racing game. The game is totally fun and brings the excitement of NASCAR racing to the computer screen. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Brad Keselowski do the voiceovers for the game and will guide you through the race. It’s very cool.

Farrah Fawcett... Rest In Peace

A few months ago, Amber (Glamber) from Beauty Blogging Junkie and I spent a night having cosmos and chatting about the '70s (one of my favorite subjects.) Studio 54, disco balls, Cheryl Tiegs and of course Farrah Fawcett. I loved everything Farrah. The Noxema commercials with Joe Namath, the Ultrabrite commercials, THE swimsuit poster and Charlie's Angels. Being a fan from way back when... I bought Farrah Fawcett Shampoo and Creme Rinse/Conditioner as soon as it came out. I used all of the shampoo but I still have an unused bottle of her conditioner. I just opened it and had a wonderful surprise. It still has the original scent - a kind of mineraly, subtle perfumey aroma. I imagine that's what her hair smelled like during her rise to super-stardom in the mid-70s.

And by the by... my dentist still recommends Utrabrite toothpaste to me as one of the least abrasive and least expensive. I've been using it for years.

Manscaping Season Officially Starts Now

There was a time when body grooming was an exclusive ritual, practiced only by Chippendale dancers, porn stars and gay stereotypes, particularly Chelsea Boys who seemed to spend hours at the gym and then would spend the rest of the day manscaping. Well all that has changed. These days it doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, bi, confused, muscular, thin, liberal, conservative, a porn star, a rock star, a husband, a father or an accountant. Everybody is doing it. On my recent trip to Spain, I noticed many guys of different shapes and sizes hanging out at the hotel pool flaunting shaved underarms, trimmed chest & abs and smooth backs — most of them were with their wives and girlfriends. Who knew? Research shows that about 1/3 of American guys between the ages of 24 – 34 have already shaved, waxed or trimmed hair below the neck. And now that the summer is officially here in the USA, it’s time to take control over unwanted body hair and hop on the manscaping bandwagon.

I’ve tried several brands and models, some were good and some were not-so-good, but the one that is my Top Pick for All-around Best Groomer is the Remington Body + Back Groomer (BHT-6000). The Remington is a shower-proof, extendable groomer that makes it super-easy to trim or shave the back, chest, abs/groin, leg and underarms. It comes with plenty of attachments including two adjustable trimming combs, a foil shaver for shaving sensitive areas without nicks or cuts and an extra-wide vertical trimmer that won me over for trimming the chest. It also has a sturdy and smartly designed extendable handle for the back and hard-to-reach areas.

The BHT-600 is a solid, well-made groomer that has a professional feel to it. It retails for $39.99 — a must have.

The economy stinks. Invest in a good scent.

In these tough economic times, it is sooooo important to smell good… I can’t stress this enough. I’ve come up with my hot list of colognes that will help you get through this recession feeling good and smelling like a million bucks.

Wall Street by Bond No. 9 New York
Dollars and Scents never smelled so good. The name says it all. Wall Street is Bond No. 9’s most popular scent for men. The shizz smells like the Financial District. It’s got to be the world’s first Securities perfum. A good investment... get it before the closing bell.

Paco Robanne One Million
OK, so I never smelled this one, but, uhh huh…the bottle is shaped like a freakin’ gold bullion.

Sean John’s I Am King
Fellas, don’t let the economy shoot down your ego. If you're not feeling the power, then get some in a bottle. I Am King won the 2009 FiFi Award for Fragrance of the Year.

PHILOSYKOS by Diptyque
When there’s nothing left but a fig leaf, why not smell like a fig leaf? There are tons of fig-scented colognes but none of them are quite as purely seductive as Philosykos. The stuff will get you laid. Done.

Ojon: The Gift of Indulgent Hair Care for Father's Day

Here's a nice twist on a Father's Day present, or for that matter, any time of the year. How about a little follicle indulgence? Ojon's Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Cleanser and Conditioner are definitely guy-friendly in terms of appearance, scent and multi-purpose usage. What a thoughtful gift for the big man in your life. Even with my buzzed hair, I like to indulge in a good shampoo and I love Ojon products — they perform phenomenally and smell wonderful. Not perfumey at all. Just a nice rich mellow scent. They’re great to use on facial hair too — keeps the beard and mustache soft, shiny and full.

A beautiful fact: Ojon Tawaka kicks ass in the antioxidant department. The rare “savage” cacao within the Cleanser contains the same level of antioxidants as 125 lbs of blueberries, while the Conditioner contains the antioxidant equivalent of 187 lbs of blueberries!

The cleanser and conditioner each sell for $32 and are available at Sephora, Amazon and

Memories of Barcelona

BAR MUT… fabulous atmosphere, fun waiters and AMAZE tapas. Small place so we got there early. Early for Barcelona that is … 9PM. BAR MUT is in the Eixample area of Barcelona. This tapas joint was recommended by Gwenyth on I LOVE her website. Her latest posting was on Barcelona so we scored and went to a few of her hot spots including FLASH FLASH and BAR MUT, both are PHENOM and a MUST for anyone visiting Barcelona. GP also recommended spending an afternoon in Park Guell. We did and it was wonderful… tons of Gaudi architecture.

We're staying at Hotel Casa Fuster. DELUXE. This is where Woody Allan stayed when he was filming Vicky Cristina Barcelona and he played jazz clarinet in this lounge on Thursday nights. The rooftop has a lounge with a great view of the city and the mountains. This is the perfect hotel to wind down the trip. I could LIVE in the bathroom. Love It!

Es nuestra Lola???

Gaudi Gaudi Gaudi!

Two days in Sitges. It's kind of like the Spanish version of Fire Island… but more Pines than Cherry Grove.
A room with a view!

Madge will be here soon!

Check out these 2 new shave brushes from Baxter of California

Made in Germany - 100% natural badger brushes made with fine hair, soft and durable. Second to the razor blade, Baxter’s Badger Hair Shave Brushes are the essential tools for achieving the best possible shave. Badger hair has a great ability to retain water (which helps create a lather when mixed with a shave cream), improving the barrier between the razor and skin, lifting facial hair to ensure a smoother shave with less irritation.

Here's the process…
• Cleanse facial skin.
• Rinse the brush in warm water, shake off excess water, and apply Baxter Super Close Shave Formula to the top of the badger brush.
• Work the cream into your beard, using oblique brush strokes.
• For more lather, dip the tip of the brush in water and add more shave cream.

Out and About in Madrid…

Two things about Madrid… everything starts late and everybody smokes!

GLAM room at Vincci Hotel Soho. The toiletries are all Hermes D'Orange Vert. Heaven!

This mornings holy breakfast. The waiter said that this egg sandwich is trademarked. I believe him.

Went to a beautiful church called Jesus de Medinaceli.

Chueca… if the East Village and Chelsea had a baby, it would be Chueca! Fun! We're going back tonight!

What does a new dad really need this Father’s Day? Some peace and quiet from the nonstop crying? Never gonna happen. A brand new shirt to replace the burp stains? Boring! Enter Baggino, what Dad really needs this Father’s Day, and the best part is it is almost as neat as his new tot.

The best part about Baggino is that Dad can be “Mr. Mom” sporting the diaper bag while still maintaining his manly image, as is doubles as a messenger bag.
