Nighttime Skin Boost With REN Omega 3 Overnight Serum

My Scentrobe: A New Addition and an Old Favorite

My Scentrobe includes everything from niche fragrances (Serge Lutens, Frédéric Malle, L'Artisan Parfumeur) and big name designer fragrances (Gucci, Dior, Prada) to vintage colognes (original Ted Lapidus pour Homme-1978) and everything in between. The picture in the GlamMAN masthead is just one of my many shelves of colognes and products so you get the picture.

New Addition. The latest addition to my cologne shelf is HUGO Element. This is a fresh, modern and masculine scent that fits into the “everyday” category. HUGO Element is a very urban fragrance that can be worn during the day and at night. In the short time wearing this one, I’ve received many compliments so I know it’s a keeper. The fragrance notes that stand out are a very fresh and spicy ginger, coriander and cedarwood. Its base note contains a hint of woodiness that gives it a slightly elegant edge. And just to add to the “freshness” element, I found out that the bottle was inspired by an oxygen tank.

Old Favorite. For a very long time, my “every day, nice-guy, good-for-the-office” cologne has been Dunhill by Alfred Dunhill, which was released in 2003. This has been my go-to cologne for day and evening. Not a “power scent” but rather a nice, simple, clean and elegant scent. I’ve received a ton of compliments on this one. Many by girls who wanted to buy it for their boyfriends or husbands. My favorite notes are the geranium and the tonka bean which simply work well together. I’m not sure if Dunhill is planning on discontinuing this fragrance (I hope not!) but I’m finding it increasingly hard to find these days. Dunhill cologne, aftershave and deodorant are all deeply discounted at FragranceNet. Run! I’m stocked up.

Home Spa Night

Last night was home spa night at Casa de GlamMAN. Actually, to be more specific, it was Alford & Hoff Microdermabrasion night! A&H Microdermabrasion has become one of my favorite twice-weekly skin care treatments. After cleansing, while my face is still wet, I massage a nickel-size dab of the formula on my face and neck in a circular motion with very light pressure. Aside from feeling good, the visual effect is immediately noticeable – a brighter and smoother skin surface. This formulation contains mild diamond-shaped magnesium oxide crystals that polish away dead flaky cells without scratching or irritating the skin’s surface. It’s really wonderful and the crystals stay intact throughout the entire process until it is rinsed off. In this way it differs from most of the facial scrubs.

Things I've Learned Over a Cosmo

The other night, my friend Ellen and I headed over to the always-fun Elmo for a drink. Of course, it’s Fashion Week in NYC so the style quota was ramped up a bit – some nice and some scary. Just about the time when my second cosmo appeared in front of me, the conversation turned to GlamMAN and grooming. Yay! So here is what I learned. Ellen is a fellow lip balm aficionado and in her bag she carries her on-the-go collection including Bigelow Mentha Lip Shine and Clinique tinted lip gloss. But the lip balm that grabbed my attention was a brand I’m not familiar with: Labello. At his point in the night we had a full-on conversation about Labello Lip Balm. This balm originated in Germany and is not sold in the States, just Europe, Canada and online. I also found out that Labello has more flavors and colors than a gay pride parade. There's a scent, flavor and type (SPF 30, Vitamin E and ProVitamin B5) for any kind of lip care you need. I want to try them all.

Well, as luck would have it, "E" has a brand-new Labello Hydro straight from Germany for me to test out and review.

Here you'll find all the basics including the single-blade razor, brands of blades, shave cream and of course the shaving technique. This video is part of a series by a gentleman called Mantic59. I've seen all of his videos. He has a pretty big following on YouTube and he's become somewhat of a shaving guru. Some of the videos have a kind of goofy-campy feel to them, but don't let that fool you, this guy is SERIOUSLY INTO SHAVING. These videos are loaded with good advice and I think you'll find them to be very helpful. Check it out!

I'm not sure what made me dizzier. Was it Ru Paul's Psychedelic Drag or the men's room in the lobby of Andre Balazs new sort of open(ish)  Standard Hotel in NYC's Meatpacking District? Ayeyeye! But I gotta say, the hotel is pretty phenom.

Happy Me All Over Body Wash
